Sanctuary Lunchtime Club

Sanctuary Lunchtime Club

The Sanctuary is a warm, welcoming and quiet place where children can go for a lunchtime. It offers a different environment to the sometimes challenging world of the playground.

Sanctuary’s ethos is underpinned by the Nurture Principles which are as follows:

  1. Children’s learning is understood developmentally
  2. The classroom/school offers a safe base
  3. Nurture is important for the development of self-esteem
  4. Language is understood as a vital means of communication
  5. All behaviour is communication
  6. Transitions are significant in the lives of children

Sanctuary is open to children from Reception to Y2. Two children are chosen from each class to attend the club and they are able to enjoy a range of stimulating activities. The activities are designed to develop children's communication skills, self-esteem, positive relationships, social needs and emotional needs.

Snacks are shared with many opportunities for social learning, helping children to attend to the needs of others, with time to listen and be listened to.

Sanctuary takes place each Thursday lunchtime.

What the children say...
