    Reception: Early Learning Goals (ELGs)

The Early Learning Goals (ELGs) are the end-of-year statements used to assess the progress of all children in Reception. Children who meet all the criteria in each area of development are considered to have “met” the Early Learning Goals and are working at age-related expectations.

We understand that some children may achieve all the Early Learning Goals before the end of Reception. To ensure continued growth, all children are given opportunities to further develop their skills and knowledge, applying what they have learned to deepen their understanding and build confidence across all areas of learning.
